A man accused of taking part in two extortion-linked shootings in Surrey is now on the run, as police issue a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest, reports CBC News.24-year-old Jagdeep Singh is wanted by police over two shootings at the same house on 32 Avenue in Surrey, British Columbia. The shootings happened five days apart in November last year. No one was hurt in either incident.Singh is one of three foreign nationals charged in the case. The others include 22-year-old Avtar Singh and 28-year-old Sandeep Singh, who are in custody. All three men face one count of unlawfully discharging a firearm and one count of extortion.The two co-accused remain behind bars, and police say Jagdeep Singh’s whereabouts are unknown. He is also wanted by the Canada Border Services Agency on an immigration warrant.In a separate statement, Parkland RCMP in Alberta said Jagdeep Singh had previously been arrested last year on November 17, 2025 while travelling through Red Deer, Alberta. He was later released pending further investigation. Officers said a firearm was seized during a search carried out at the time of his arrest.“Investigators sent the seized firearm away for testing at the … Provincial Firearms Lab and this firearm has been linked to [seven] shootings across the country not related to this event,” RCMP said.Police added: “Continued investigation revealed several key pieces of evidence linking the suspect to extortions targeting the South Asian community and the shootings of the residence in Parkland County.”The charges in the Surrey case were announced by British Columbia’s provincial extortion task force. The task force was set up after a sharp rise in extortion cases. Officials say the recent violence linked to extortion has mainly targeted members of the South Asian community and business owners in the Lower Mainland.Surrey Police Service said it has opened more than 50 separate extortion investigations since the start of the year.
